This is our most popular range, with clean elegant lines.

All our studios have engineered wood cladding which is available in a range of colours, and can be upgraded to other timbers, such as western red cedar, larch or shou sugi ban (charred wood). They have 1.8m wide French uPVC doors, a top or side-hung picture window, and oak laminate flooring. The interior is dry-lined and painted white as standard, and we fit internal and external lights, switches and sockets which are all connected to your home’s mains supply. Our garden rooms are then ready for you to enjoy.

How We Build

foundation

We use heavy duty composite pile foundations with a stainless steel frame which lifts the studio off the ground, leaving a breathable space, removing the risk of rising damp and condensation. Depending on the size of your garden room there will be 9-30 piles.

structure

The floor, walls and roof are constructed using structurally insulated panels (SIPs) which offer highly efficient thermal values and exceptional strength. The wall thickness is 140mm (subject to cladding type), making our studios warm in the winter and cool in the summer, with good sound-proofing. We use additional joists if you choose a sedum planted roof.

windows & doors

We use 1.8m wide uPVC French doors and a 1.2m x 600mm top or side-hung uPVC picture window, as standard on all our studios. Doors and windows have argon gas-filled double glazing, highly insulated and toughened glass. Upgrades include sliding or bi-fold doors, aluminium frames, additional windows, and roof lights. High security locks are fitted to doors and windows, and we can also fit integral blinds.

The roof is a unique standing seam system designed for ‘industrial grade’ durability, it has hidden fixings and is anthracite grey in colour, finished with anthracite edging and guttering to the rear. Studios up to 3.8m deep can have a planted sedum roof, which not only looks spectacular when flowering, but also offers a sanctuary to insects, bees and birds and helps insulate your garden room.

cladding

We clad the exterior of our studios with ToughWood™ cladding which we manufacture in various contemporary and woodgrain effect colours. ToughWood™ is an engineered wood, manufactured from wood strands compressed under extremely high pressure and bonded together to create an ultra-tough dense and stable cladding. It looks like wood, but has none of the disadvantages of natural wood! Made from sustainable resources, it’s the ecologically responsible choice compared to PVC or composite cladding. For boundary walls on buildings over 15m² we supply the ToughWood™ with intumescent paint which further enhances its fire retardant properties. We also have the option to upgrade to other types of cladding at an extra charge, western red cedar for front or visible sides is especially popular.

Interior

Our studio walls and ceiling are dry-lined, painted in two coats of white emulsion and finished off with 100mm skirting.

Flooring

Commercial grade laminate flooring is fitted over an underlay as standard and can be upgraded to engineered oak, carpet or rubber.

Electrics

Depending on the size of the studio, we will install a minimum of 4 recessed ceiling lights and 3 double sockets internally. We will also fit 2 up/down lighters externally, or 3 recessed lights in an overhang. All electrics are connected to an internally fitted consumer unit with a residual-current device (RCD). We will connect to the mains electricity supply if your house is within 10m of the studio, any further distance is charged at £10/m. You can also have underfloor heating, wall-mounted convection heaters or air conditioning systems, Category 5 internet cable and socket, and USB sockets.
