The Abode range has a full length casement window adjacent to French doors which allows light to flood in.

All our studios are clad in composite cladding, available in a range of colours, and can be upgraded to other timbers like western red cedar, larch or Shou Sugi Ban. They have 1.8m wide French uPvc doors, a 1m wide top hung window, and oak laminate flooring. The interior is plastered and painted white as standard, and we fit internal and external lights, switches and sockets which are all connected to your home’s mains supply. Our garden rooms are then ready for you to enjoy.

How We Build

foundationWe use heavy duty concrete pile foundations which lift the studio off the ground, leaving a breathable space, removing the risk of rising damp and condensation. Depending on the size of your garden room there will be 9-24 piles, and the underside of the studios are protected by a moisture barrier.
structureThe floor, walls and roof are constructed using structurally insulated panels (SIPs) which offer highly efficient thermal values and exceptional strength. The wall thickness is 170mm, making our studios warm in the winter and cool in the summer, with good sound-proofing. We use additional joists if you choose a sedum planted roof.

windows & doorsWe use 1.8m wide uPvc French doors and a 1m wide x 400mm high top hung uPvc picture window, as standard on all our studios. Doors and windows have argon gas filled double glazing, with high levels of insulation and toughened glass. Upgrades include aluminium French and bi-fold doors, additional windows, and roof lights. High security locks are fitted to doors and windows, and we can also fit integral blinds.

garden office studio roofThe roof is covered in a single ply rubber (EPDM) which is fully adhered to the roof and finished off with black trim. The manufacturers guarantee the rubber for 25 years, but it is expected to last for over 50 years. All of our studios can have a planted sedum roof, which not only looks spectacular when flowering, but also offers a sanctuary to insects, bees and birds and helps insulate your garden room.
claddingWe clad the exterior of the studios with Western Red Cedar which contains natural compounds called thujaplicins which act as natural preservatives, and give the wood its distinct aroma. Western Red Cedar will last for decades, even in harsh environments. Between the studio and cladding is a 20mm gap for airflow and a vapour barrier is installed to allow moisture to escape, but not enter the walls.

Our studio walls and ceiling are plaster boarded, then skim-coated and finished off with 100mm skirting. The walls and ceiling are painted in two coats of white emulsion.

Commercial grade laminate flooring is fitted over an underlay as standard and can be upgraded to engineered oak, carpet or rubber.

Depending on the size of the studio, 3-6 wall lights, and 3-6 double sockets are fitted internally and 2 up/down lighters fitted externally. All electrics are connected to an internally fitted consumer unit with a residual-current device (RCD). We will connect to the mains electricity supply if your house is within 10m of the studio, any further distance is charged at £10/m. We can also fit underfloor heating, wall-mounted convection heaters and air conditioning, Category 5 internet cable and socket, and USB sockets.
